Company
History
Our corporate history dates back to 12 September 1945 when Railway Construction Division was founded in Wrocław as a subsidiary of Railway Construction Enterprise in Warsaw.
Next important dates and events in PRKiI S.A. history include:
- 1947 – transformation of Railway Construction Division into Transport Infrastructure Works Enterprise No. 1 in Wrocław (Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Komunikacyjnych nr 1 we Wrocławiu).
- 1951 – corporate name changed to Railway Works Enterprise No. 8 in Wrocław (Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Kolejowych nr 8 we Wrocławiu)
- 1982 – PRK 8 is incorporated into Polish State Railways (PKP) structures as Railway Construction Works in Wrocław (Zakłady Budownictwa Kolejowego we Wrocławiu).
- 1991 – PRK 8 is separated from PKP structures and receives a state enterprise status.
- 1994 – transformation into a single-person company of the State Treasury with shares in National Investment Funds, and changing the name to Railway and Engineering Works Joint Stock Company (Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Kolejowych i Inżynieryjnych S.A.)
Since the very beginning the company had a versatile scope of activities . Performing the track and earthworks, it was at the same time involved in rehabilitation and construction of few hundreds of bridges and viaducts, capacity building and engineering objects and also electrified hundreds of kilometres of railway lines. Proof of PRKiI's staff professional experienced work capacities can be found all over the country.
Moreover, from the 24th of November 1998 PRKiI has been appointed a concession allowing "performing the economic activity consisting of railway transport of freight on railway lines on the territory of Poland". The Ministry of Transport and Maritime Economy issued the concession for the indefinite time.
